Heather’s Apple Crisp

Heather’s Apple Crisp

10 apples, peeled and sliced

The juice from one lemon or 2 tablespoons of lemon juice

3 tablespoons cinnamon

1 cup sugar

Combine the sugar and cinnamon in a bowl or ziplock bag. Toss the apples in the lemon juice. Then coat the apple slices with the cinnamon sugar. Place coated apples in a baking dish.

2 cups oatmeal. ( If all you have is the individual flavored packets, that will work great as well)

1 stick of butter or 8 tablespoons, softened

1 cup of brown sugar

(if you got the pie crust crumbs from Heather at the pantry you will use 2 cup of the crumbs. This is not needed to make the dessert though.)

Mix the brown sugar, the oatmeal and the pie crumbs in a bowl. Next take the softened butter and cut it into the oatmeal mixture. It will make a crummy mixture. Take the crumbs and sprinkle them atop the apple slices. Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for about 45 minutes to an hour. The top you want to start to brown and the apples bubbly. Let cool before digging in so it has a chance to thicken up.

You can top with my homemade whipped cream by using two cups of heavy cream, 1/2 cup of powdered sugar, and a teaspoon of vanilla. mmmm good!! Enjoy!
